COLOR, COLOR, COLOR

This class will introduce you to the basics of drawing using colored media. Bring the colored media of your choice and learn how to use it. Susan provides lots of individual instruction for all levels. Using a variety of themes, each section will begin with tools and materials. We will cover light and shadow, strokes, textures, composition, mixing color and a fun technique for each media. There will be one drawing session using the human figure.

DRAWING & WATERCOLOR



Explore the possibilities of drawing and watercolor painting! If you want to paint realistically, it's appropriate to learn basic drawing techniques. Through exercises and demonstrations we will do both. Students will learn a new appreciation for both mediums and several finished pieces to show for it.

Do you want to paint but need better basic drawing skills? Begin with drawing fundamentals - proportion, line, value, and negative space. Transitioning into painting, you will learn how to compose and begin a painting, mix colors, use brushes and handle paint. More advanced projects are given to returning students.

ACRYLIC PAINTING I & II



 

Discover the creative and technical versatility of acrylic painting. This course emphasizes experimentation with acrylic techniques as well as composition, color mixing and layering, color harmony, design and brush techniques. Acrylic II students will receive a review of beginning techniques by sharing the space with Acrylic I students. It will also include an assignment each night.

COLLAGE Collage is the ultimate playground of materials and mediums. By pasting, on a support, found materials such as: old photos, magazine cutouts, maps, discarded artwork, greeting cards, buttons, stamped images, cut and torn papers of a variety of textures/patterns and using paints, inks and other mediums - wonderful surprises happen. Bring your old magazines, books, photocopies of photographs, trinkets and maps to personalize.

LEARNING TO DRAW THE HUMAN FIGURE

Learning to draw the human form is an adventure! You will learn to define the posture and mood of each figure pose through quick gesture drawings and longer poses. Students become familiar with proportions and anatomy, but mostly the emphasis is on the intuitive quality of lines and shading techniques that give depth to the form.

STAINED GLASS

GLASS FUSING

Learn the basics of glass fusing construction. Explore fusing and slumping glass in the kiln to make both art pieces and functional ware. Create designs by layering sheets of glass, making patterns and using color.

MIXED MEDIA





Learn the fundamentals of combining Collage, Painting and Printmaking on Canvas, Paper and Wood. We’ll even dive into a little digital media and working with encaustics and wax, this class covers it all. Explore color, texture, collage, surface design and composition! In this class we will mix wet and dry media, learn how to combine materials and understand how different materials work alone and together to discover new and dramatic techniques that are hard to accomplish with traditional materials. This workshop will be a wonderful way to get your creative mind to think in new ways and unlock your creativity. Personal direction is emphasized. All skill levels welcome.

DECORATIVE BOXES WORKSHOP

 

Students in this workshop will affix materials of interest such as newspapers, maps, stamps, and train tickets to creat unique boxes. The boxes will also be decorated with various media. You will find yourself inspired by this instructor and tapping into new levels of creativity

MIXED MEDIA WITH OIL PASTEL WORKSHOP

(an homage to Georgia O'Keeffe)

 

This 4 hour workshop really "pushes the envelope" with what you can do with oil pastel and its friends. First we will make an oil pastel "mixed media sampler" of 15 different combinations using oil pastel with ink, watercolor, soft pastel, acrylic, collage, colored pencil, rubber stamps and charcoal. Then use those effects to make an artwork based on a masterwork by Georgia O'Keeffe.

Students will make a creative self discovery in this workshop that links watercolor expression with ournal writing. Construct a written journal directly onto the painted the painted works by connecting Valentine themes generated in the watercolor pieces.

Imagine making your own wearable art! We will explore bead stringing and design, polymer clay bead making and get creative with recycled materials.  You will learn how to choose the right proportion, color and texture, and then construct adorable jewelry and accessory pieces with the proper structural integrity. Hip Hop Dance

In the afternoon students will attend Eveoke Dance Theatre’s dance camp. This will be a fun and inspiring week of creative hip hop!  Working with several different teachers, students will be exposed to a variety of hip hop styles and moves.

Students will work on several dances and put them together for a final performance open to all friends and family members on Friday, July 22nd at 2:30pm. Find your hip hop style and your dance voice while making new friends and getting great exercise. (Students will be accompanied by an adult to the dance theatre and should be picked up at their location)

Skateboards & Logo Design

In this class, teens will design their own skateboard deck and custom logos! Work with skateboard designers from Soul Ryde Inc. to create and unique and personalized skateboard. Then you will complete your look by designing your very own logo. All materials included in class fee.

Comic Creations
