In this class you will be introduced to the basic fundamentals of decorative painting. You will learn about the history of decorative arts, the basics of color theory and compostion. With hands-on practice using a variety of tools and techniques, this class will help you build a solid foundation of knowledge & skill needed to become a professional faux finisher. INTERMEDIATE WIRE WRAPPING JEWELRY

In this class you will learn to make beautiful wire formed pods and cages for just about anything! Bring objects to cage (shells, stones, beads), a wide link necklace chain, jeweler's chain nose pliers, round nose pliers & cutters, 3 ft of sterling silver Square wire (18 gauge) & 10 ft. of sterling silver round wire (26 gauge). (2 hours per class)

INTRODUCTION
TO SOFT PASTEL

|
Pastels have a depth and richness to them that is unique.
You begin with the fun of blending colors before moving
on to dfining shapes in a still life. You concentrate on
the colors of each object and where they are in relation
to each other. Before any detail is added the artwork is
filled with life and drama simply by applying color. As
the shadows and lines bring your artwork into focus you
are encouraged to find your own rhythm and style. All levels welcome.

INTRODUCTION TO DRAWING AND PAINTING

Do you want to paint but need better basic drawing skills?
Begin with drawing fundametals - proportion, line, value

Open up a new world of possibilities in jewelry design. Bend & wrap wire just like the professionals. Use jeweler's pliers to form wire links, squiggles, spirals, clasps and wire wrap beads. Learn to wrap "top drilled" & "center hole drilled" beads and pendants, stones without holes, Egyptian spirals & a few more surprises. (2 hours per class)

LEARNING TO DRAW THE HUMAN FIGURE

Learning
to draw the human form is an adventure! You learn to define
the posture and mood of each figure pose through quick gesture
drawings and longer poses. You become familiar with proportions
and anatomy, but mostly the emphasis is on the intuitive
quality of lines and shading techniques that give depth
to the form.

EXPLORING COLOR WORKSHOP SERIES
|
1. COLOR RELATIONSHIPS: The first workshop will start with an introduction to basic color relationships based on the color wheel - what are primary & complimentary colors, cools & warms; understanding paints/pigments available in stores. The activities will focus on making color mixtures in a systematic way, modifying colors, broadening the range of basic colors to make rich variations.
2. FOCUS ON VALUE & INTENSITY: Students will learn to see and understand the value (darkness or lightness) of colors to create contrast & harmony, light & shadow in their paintings, and to distinguish value from intensity. Activities will focus on making a refrence guide for value & intensity and mixing color values.
3. MIX IT UP WITH COLOR STUDIES: Put into practice skills of matching or duplicating colors, mixing specific values and intensities of colors and using principles of color harmony in a small painting or study. We will also include more examples & discussion of how color ideas work in paintings of various styles, past and contemporary.
